Mass Extinctions Seminar
We organized an eye-opening event within the scope of the MBG3028-Biodiversity course. At the seminar titled "Mass Extinctions in the History of the Earth" held on May 14, 2026, at 09:00 in classroom D-302, we hosted Prof. Dr. Raif Kandemir, Faculty Member of the KTU Faculty of Engineering, Department of Geological Engineering.
During the seminar, which was held with great curiosity and high attendance from our students, the major extinction phases in our planet's history and the effects of these destructive processes on today's biodiversity were discussed in depth. With Prof. Dr. Raif Kandemir's extensive knowledge and engaging presentation, our students gained a valuable interdisciplinary perspective on how life has been shaped throughout geological eras and evolutionary processes.
Such academic organizations, which broaden our students' scientific visions by bringing them together with experts from different disciplines, also make a direct and meaningful contribution to our department's strategic indicator of the Number of events organized for the professional and personal development of your students.
We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Raif Kandemir for sharing his valuable knowledge and experience with our students, and all our students who showed great and interactive interest in the seminar.
