Bee and Bee Products Application and Research Center (APİMER) Officially Established at Our University

The proposal to establish the Bee and Bee Products Application and Research Center (APİMER) within our University has been approved at the Executive Board meeting held on 13 November 2025, in accordance with the relevant articles of Law. The Rector’s Office has been formally notified that the Center’s founding regulation must be prepared in compliance with the legislation and published in the Official Gazette.

Support for Registration Processes

The Center, led by Prof. Dr. Sevgi KOLAYLI, has completed its organizational structuring. APİMER will conduct scientific research in the field of bee products and natural products, provide analytical services, and support sectoral development. Its primary fields of activity will include quality analysis of bee products, such as honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, and bee venom; R&D studies; and scientific contributions to apitherapy practices. Additionally, the Center will prioritize the identification of natural and geographically indicated products, support registration processes, and contribute to the development of value-added products.

Contributing to Regional Development

With its modern laboratory infrastructure and academic staff specialized in the field, the Center will offer training, consultancy, and technical support services to public institutions, the private sector, producers, and researchers. Aiming to strengthen University–Industry Cooperation, APİMER is expected to contribute to regional development through national and international project partnerships.

A Gateway to Innovative Projects

Commenting on the establishment of the Center, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI emphasized its importance for both our University and the region, stating: “Bee and bee products constitute a strategic area of production for both our country and our region. With the establishment of APİMER, we will support the scientifically grounded development of the beekeeping sector and contribute to enhancing quality standards in natural products. We believe that this Center, strengthening University–Industry Cooperation and opening the door to innovative projects, will bring significant value to our country.”
