KTU Department of Mining Engineering Ranked 16th in the Global List
The Department of Mining Engineering at our University’s Faculty of Engineering has achieved a remarkable success by ranking 16th in the world in its field, according to the 2025 data released by the international academic rating organization ScholarGPS.
ScholarGPS prepares annual rankings by evaluating the national and international performance of researchers based on publication count, citation impact, and the H-Index, which reflects scientific influence. According to the 2025 results, our University’s Department of Mining Engineering has once again maintained its distinction as the only department from Türkiye to be included in the global list in the field of Mining.
Sustained Excellence Attracts Attention
The department had also ranked 16th in the world in the 2024 data announced by ScholarGPS and demonstrated a notable rise in the Lifetime Achievement category. With the 2025 results, the Department of Mining Engineering has successfully continued this consistent and impressive performance.

In his assessment of this achievement, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, stated, “The fact that our Department of Mining Engineering has ranked 16th among the world’s leading departments for two consecutive years is a clear reflection of our University’s long-standing academic tradition. We are extremely proud that our academics represent our country at the highest level through their internationally impactful publications, high-quality research, and strong scientific contributions. KTU will resolutely continue to be a higher education institution that produces science both in its region and across the world.”
Our Rector also emphasized that this significant accomplishment of the Department of Mining Engineering contributes meaningfully to Türkiye’s visibility in the field of Mining, and he extended his congratulations to all faculty members.
