KTU Hosts 11th International KTUDELL Conference

The 11th International KTUDELL Conference on Language, Literature and Translation took place at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Congress Center on October 7–9, 2026. Organized by our University's Department of Western Languages and Literature, the event brought together scholars, researchers, and students to exchange ideas and discuss recent developments in their fields.

The opening ceremony was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, the Department Chair of Western Languages and Literature Prof. Dr. Mustafa Naci KAYAOĞLU, academics from Türkiye and abroad, University staff, and students.

Bringing Scholars Together Across Borders

Speaking at the opening ceremony, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, highlighted the role of KTUDELL in strengthening the University's international academic connections.

He noted that the conference offered a valuable opportunity to discuss both established questions in language, literature, and translation and new challenges arising from digitalization, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. He also emphasized the importance of bringing different disciplines and research perspectives together to better understand language, meaning, and human experience.

Encouraging Undergraduate Research

Our Rector welcomed the special sessions organized for undergraduate students working on TÜBİTAK 2209-A research projects. He stressed that giving students opportunities to share their findings and take part in academic discussions helps them develop research skills early in their university education. He also expressed his hope that the conference would inspire new ideas, research, and collaborations.

International Scholars Take Part in KTUDELL

The conference welcomed invited speakers Prof. Sarah KNIGHT and Prof. Dr. Philip SHAW from the University of Leicester, Prof. Dr. Yasemin BAYYURT from the University of Lleida, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adriana Iulia WANIEK from Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University.

Over the three days, participants shared their research and exchanged perspectives through presentations, workshops, and discussions covering a wide range of topics in language, literature, and translation. The program also featured dedicated sessions where undergraduate students presented their TÜBİTAK 2209-A research projects.

The conference concluded on October 9, 2026, following the final sessions.
