We Strengthened Our Research University Status and Improved Our Ranking

Our University has risen one place in the 2025 Research Universities Performance Ranking, moving from 23rd to 22nd overall, and from 20th to 19th among state universities.

The Research Universities Evaluation Meeting, organized by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), was held at the Historic Bath on the Davutpaşa Campus of Yıldız Technical University (YTU). Our University was represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI and Vice Rector for Research Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk URSAVAŞ. Opening remarks were delivered by CoHE President Prof. Dr. Erol ÖZVAR, CoHE Vice President Prof. Dr. Naci GÜNDOĞAN, and YTU Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp DEBİK.

During the meeting, the current status, objectives, and performance indicators of the Research Universities were comprehensively discussed. CoHE President Prof. Dr. Erol ÖZVAR emphasized the strategic importance of these universities in enhancing Türkiye’s scientific capacity and highlighted the performance monitoring system as a key mechanism preparing higher education institutions for future scientific goals. This year’s evaluation covered the 2024 performance data of 23 Research Universities and 6 universities in the Candidate Monitoring Program.

Our Score and Ranking Improved

While our University ranked 23rd last year, it has moved up to 22nd place this year. Notably, our performance showed a clear rise in the categories of Research Capacity, Research Quality, and Cooperation & Engagement. Our total performance score increased from 30 in 2023 to 52.28 in 2024, with Research Capacity rising from 15 to 21.65, Research Quality from 10 to 20.58, and Cooperation from 5 to 10.06. These values collectively demonstrate a strong upward momentum.

Emphasis on Scientific Advancement

Following the meeting, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI highlighted the University’s strengthening research ecosystem, stated, “Our continued progress as a Research University demonstrates the steady and determined increase in our scientific production capacity. This achievement reflects the collective effort of our entire academic and administrative staff. I sincerely thank all our faculty members and personnel who contributed to this process. Our goal is not only to rise in rankings but to contribute more strongly to our country’s scientific development, innovative projects, and international collaborations.”

With the latest results, our University has successfully maintained its ‘Research University’ status for 2025 while further enhancing its overall performance.
