BIOBLACK Project Partner Meeting

On March 17, 2026, the BIOBLACK project (BSB00794) held its key Period 2 partner meeting via the Zoom online platform. The session brought together project personnel and expert researchers from the lead partner, Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ) - Türkiye, alongside dedicated teams from Mare Nostrum (Romania) and the Institute of Fish Resources (Bulgaria)

A major highlight of the meeting was the official introduction of the BIOBLACK Citizen Science application. Designed to empower local communities and stakeholders across the Black Sea basin, the app has now entered its trial period. This digital tool allows citizens to actively participate in biodiversity monitoring, helping researchers gather real-time data on local and invasive species. The meeting also focused on the project's tangible educational outputs. It was announced that the Food Pyramid 3D materials are currently in full-scale production. These physical models are designed to be interactive educational tools, illustrating the delicate balance of the Black Sea ecosystem. Furthermore, the consortium reviewed the progress of the State of the Art report. This comprehensive document synthesizes the latest scientific data and policy frameworks regarding Black Sea conservation.

The session concluded with a roadmap for the remainder of Period 2, emphasizing the synergy between the Turkish, Romanian, and Bulgarian teams.
