ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROCESS AND PROCEDURES
- About the Directive: The Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Engineering Internship Directive has been prepared to regulate the principles and procedures governing internships for students of the KTU Faculty of Engineering. The Directive consists of two sections: the first section contains general provisions applicable to all departments, while the second section includes department-specific provisions. Detailed information is available via the Click Here for the Internship Directive link.
- Document Verification and Responsibility: All students applying for or completing an internship must carefully check information such as signatures, dates, and names and surnames when preparing their documents. Students are fully responsible for ensuring that all documents are uploaded accurately and completely.
- Internship Insurance and the 30-Day Rule: Students undertaking an internship will be insured by the University against occupational accidents and occupational diseases. To ensure that the insurance process is completed properly and that the application is considered valid, the application documents must be completed and uploaded to the Internship Management System through BYS at least 30 (thirty) days before the internship start date.
- Student Guide: Detailed instructions on how to manage the internship process through BYS are available via the Internship Management System Student Guide link.
- Students Undertaking an Erasmus Internship: Students who wish to have their Erasmus internship recognized as a compulsory internship must apply in accordance with the standard internship regulations and procedures before beginning their internship abroad. During the application process, the phrase “Erasmus Internship” must be entered in the description section in BYS.
- Internship Results and Interview Process: After the submitted internship completion documents have been reviewed and approved by the Internship Committee, an interview date and time will be scheduled for each student. Internship interviews are conducted face-to-face, and the interview dates and times are announced on the Department’s website.
- Workplace Representative Evaluation: Workplace representatives at the institution where the internship is carried out will evaluate the student using the password sent to them through the system. The student is directly responsible for ensuring that this notification and password are delivered to the workplace representative and for following up on the evaluation process.
- Detailed Procedural Steps: Detailed instructions covering the entire internship process—from the initial stages, including finding an institution, BYS system statuses, required time periods, and document formats, to the completion stage, including internship report-writing rules, surveys, and approval procedures—are available in the internship flowcharts provided on our webpage.
All relevant documents are available at the bottom of the page.
