Our University Recorded a 54-Place Rise in the URAP World University Ranking
The results of the URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) World University Ranking, which evaluates universities based on objective indicators such as scientific publications, citations, and international collaboration, have been announced.
Prepared by the URAP Research Laboratory, established within the Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2009, the ranking is recognized as one of the most comprehensive evaluation systems for comparing the research performance of universities on an international scale.
In the URAP World University Ranking, universities are evaluated based on indicators including the number of articles, citation count, scientific document production, publication impact, citation impact, and international collaboration.
As part of the 2025–2026 World Ranking, the 3,500 higher education institutions producing the highest number of scientific publications worldwide were examined, and the top 3,000 institutions with the highest overall performance were included in the ranking. Continuing its steady rise in academic performance, our University achieved a significant success this year by moving up 54 places compared to the previous year and ranking 1,259th in the URAP World University Ranking.
Our University's overall URAP score increased from 246.08 last year to 254.15, while notable improvements were also recorded in the key academic performance indicators used in the ranking. Our publication performance score rose from 42.81 to 43.90, our citation performance score increased from 56.56 to 59.84, and our total scientific document score improved from 27.33 to 28.15. These increases provide concrete evidence that our University's scientific productivity and the academic impact of its research continue to strengthen.
At the national level, our University ranked 21st among higher education institutions in Türkiye. In addition, it placed 17th among the 23 Research Universities designated by the Council of Higher Education.
The impact of recent efforts to strengthen research infrastructure, expand national and international research collaborations, support the production of high-quality publications, and enhance scientific visibility continues to be reflected in the URAP results. In particular, the improvements in publication and citation performance demonstrate that our University's research quality and international scientific visibility are growing stronger.
In line with its research-oriented development strategy, our University continues to increase its scientific productivity and international visibility while advancing its position among the world's leading universities year after year.
We congratulate all of our academic and administrative staff whose dedication contributed to this achievement and wish for the continued expansion of efforts that will further enhance our University's scientific output and research performance.
