Digital Transformation Converges at KTU
Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) is hosting the Innovation to the Future Skills Academic event, aimed at shedding light on the future of the business world.
Held as part of the Future Skills Academy Project led by our university, the Innovation to the Future Sectoral Orientation and Career Days continue at the KTU Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Convention Center. This career days event brings the exciting world of digital transformation to its participants. The opening program at the KTU Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Convention Center was attended by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cemil RAKICI, Vice President of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ali Haydar BAŞ, Trabzon Provincial Director of the Turkish Employment Agency Servet KABA, NGO representatives, academic and administrative staff, and students.
In his opening speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cemil RAKICI emphasized that the Future Skills Academy Project is a significant step in the long-standing efforts to cultivate talents that meet the demands of the future business world. Highlighting the importance of training young people capable of managing future technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality, cloud computing, additive manufacturing, and financial technologies, Prof. Dr. RAKICI stated, "We hope that all the topics discussed within this organization will illuminate the future successes of our youth. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project and event, and I extend my gratitude to all the stakeholders of our project and the esteemed businesses of our country and region present here today. I wish the event to be fruitful."
Vice President of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ali Haydar BAŞ began his speech by expressing the pride of being an executive partner in a visionary project like the Future Skills Academy (FSA). He mentioned that this organization focuses on future technologies such as digital games and simulations, virtual and augmented reality applications, blockchain, and artificial intelligence. BAŞ continued: "We aim to collaborate with other universities in the region on this project. This is a sign of our effort to reach all the youth in the region and create equal opportunities. We strive to build the future together, support regional development, and fully realize the potential of our youth."
In the opening program, Project Executives Asst. Prof. Dr. Bilgen AKMERMER and Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Project Specialist Gözde YILMAZ gave presentations summarizing the journey of the event from its inception. Asst. Prof. Dr. AKMERMER emphasized that the project's goal is not only to educate individuals and integrate them into the business world but also to be part of a comprehensive plan for producing and developing digital technologies in the region. She highlighted that, unlike a traditional academic approach, the project focuses on enabling the region to manage digital technologies and originate these technologies locally.
Following the opening ceremony, experts spoke on topics such as Savings and Investment, 2030: The Age of Experience, Blockchain: The New Trust Protocol, and Productive Artificial Intelligence under the title Conversations with Industry Leaders. Prof. Dr. Selçuk TUNALI and Prof. Dr. Osman EROĞLU from TOBB University presented on new developments in Digital Cadaver and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare. The first day's final session featured a panel on Digital Transformation in Healthcare by faculty members from our university's Engineering, Medicine, and Dentistry faculties.
The event, which includes effective and productive programs such as Human-Centered Experience Design: Gamification Activity, Conversations with Industry Leaders, and Türkiye's Journey to 5G and Beyond, will continue until May 17. Participants have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with industry representatives at the booths of national and local companies.
