Karadeniz Technical University celebrated its 70th anniversary with great enthusiasm through a ceremony held as part of the Science, Culture, and Art Week. The celebrations began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk and Youth Monument on May 20, 2025, and continued with a well-attended event at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Congress Center.

The ceremony welcomed many distinguished guests, including government officials, university rectors, public institution representatives, NGO members, academic and administrative staff, students, and alumni.

Established in 1955, KTU stands as one of Turkey’s oldest and most respected universities. With a strong focus on education, research, and community service, the university has made significant contributions to both national and international academic spheres. It continues to grow with the dedication of its staff and students and has recently been recognized with the "Research University" status and a "5-Year Full Institutional Accreditation" by CoHE and THEQC.

During the ceremony, awards were presented in categories such as Academic Excellence, Young Scientist, Industry Collaboration, Thesis of the Year, Quality in Education, and Long-Service Recognition.

The event also included an art exhibition by the Department of Fine Arts and concluded with a cocktail reception at Koru Hotel. The 70th anniversary celebrations are set to end with a concert by Nusret YILMAZ later in the evening.
