Emergencies in Thoracic Diseases Discussed at Our University
Symposium on The Emergencies in Pulmonology, organized for the first time this year by the Department of Thoracic Diseases at our Faculty of Medicine, was held at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Cultural and Congress Center with high participation.
The event was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, along with Farabi Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Celal TEKİNBAŞ, Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Sevdegül AYDIN MUNGAN, Thoracic Specialist Prof. Dr. Tevfik ÖZLÜ, Department Chair Prof. Dr. Funda ÖZTUNA, Faculty of Medicine Internal Medicine Department Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Yılmaz BÜLBÜL, as well as many academics and invited guests.
"This Symposium Is a Significant Opportunity"
In his opening remarks, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, began by quoting the famous verse of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, “Among the people, nothing is as valuable as the state, yet in the world, no state is as precious as a single breath of health…” Addressing the participants, he stated:
"As you know, the field of medicine is becoming stronger every day with advancing knowledge and technologies. Particularly in critical areas such as Emergency Medicine and Thoracic, the sharing of knowledge and experience is of great importance. To provide our patients with the most accurate and swift interventions, it is essential to combine theoretical knowledge with real-world experience. In this regard, I believe this symposium, held under the theme ‘Real Cases and Experiences,’ presents a great opportunity for our academics and healthcare professionals working in this field.”
"We Will Keep Up with Advancing Technology"
Highlighting the necessity of keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology and contributing to this process through innovation, Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI stated:
“For instance, an American company has developed an artificial intelligence software for intensive care patients, designed to minimize fatalities. These software solutions are sold at extremely high prices worldwide. So, I ask—why can’t we develop such a system within our university? We have established our Artificial Intelligence Department, and we have access to patient data. Can’t we use these resources to create our own software? We will now begin working on such a project. We plan to collaborate with the Ministry of Health to advance this initiative. The point I want to make is that technology is evolving rapidly, and we have the infrastructure to keep up with this transformation.”
Our Rector expressed his gratitude to all participants who contributed to organizing the symposium and to those who enhanced our university’s scientific productivity and quality of healthcare services.
The program continued with speeches by Farabi Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Celal TEKİNBAŞ, Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Sevdegül AYDIN MUNGAN, Department Chair Prof. Dr. Funda ÖZTUNA, and Thoracic Specialist Prof. Dr. Tevfik ÖZLÜ.
