The Division of Intensive Care within the Department of Chest Diseases at our University’s Faculty of Medicine has been designated an international Center of Excellence in recognition of its advanced extracorporeal treatment practices, educational activities, and scientific research.

Following an evaluation conducted by Vantive, the center was awarded this distinction based on its clinical expertise in continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), sepsis management, and extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal (ECCO'R), as well as its educational capacity and scientific research competence. In addition to the quality of patient care, the evaluation process also considered the center’s educational infrastructure, team experience, and scientific activities.

For many years, the Division of Intensive Care within the Department of Chest Diseases has served as an international training center in the field of extracorporeal therapies. Healthcare professionals from South Africa, Lebanon, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and other countries in the region regularly participate in the hands-on training programs organized by the center.

The Center of Excellence designation officially recognizes not only the outstanding performance of the General Intensive Care Unit at our University’s Farabi Hospital in delivering advanced treatment modalities but also its role as a reference center that provides international education and promotes the exchange of knowledge and expertise.
