The International Conference on Quality in Higher Education was scheduled to take place at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Convention Center on March 7-8, 2024. The conference began with the opening speech titled "Accreditation in Higher Education in the World and in Türkiye" by the President of the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK), Prof. Dr. Ümit KOCABIÇAK.

In the conference organized with the participation of our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cemil RAKICI and academics, Prof. Dr. Ümit KOCABIÇAK emphasized the importance of the "Quality Assurance System," which is an integral part of the higher education process, and highlighted the stages and requirements that need to be completed in the accreditation process. In his speech, he stated, "Institutions that ensure the fourfold process of planning, implementing, controlling, and taking preventive measures obtain accreditation for 2 or 5 years. So what happens in universities that receive institutional accreditation? Their recognition increases, they do not encounter problems in the internationalization process, they gain a competitive advantage among universities, and they provide easier employment opportunities both domestically and internationally. Currently, 53 universities in Türkiye have institutional accreditation. This rate is 25%. Universities with institutional accreditation can enter the database where these 53 institutions are listed and see that every accreditation we grant also has a counterpart in Europe."

Following Prof. Dr. Ümit KOCABIÇAK's speech, the program continued with a panel titled "Quality and Accreditation Process in Universities." Assumed moderation of the panel was taken by the Director of the KTU Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayça EMÄ°NOÄžLU. The panel also included contributions from the Advisor to the Rector, Lect. Ali Haydar DOÄžU, the Director of the Teaching and Learning Center, Prof. Dr. Semra ÇOLAK, and the Chair of the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Kader ÅžAHÄ°N. They provided significant evaluations regarding the steps followed in the quality process of higher education institutions, the improvements made, and the criteria adopted by relevant units during accreditation stages.
