Prof. Dr. Ahmet Can ALTUNIÅžIK, faculty member at the Department of Civil Engineering and Director of the Earthquake and Structural Health (DE-YAS) Application and Research Center, has been appointed to the Earthquake Science Board of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) under the Ministry of Interior. The Board consists of 14 distinguished members working in the field of earthquake science and risk management.

The Earthquake Science Board serves as an important advisory body that contributes to scientific studies and provides guidance on the following:

• Ensuring preparedness for earthquakes,
• Reducing earthquake-related damages,
• Offering recommendations for pre-, during-, and post-earthquake activities,
• Defining research priorities and developing policies related to earthquake studies.

We sincerely congratulate Prof. Dr. Ahmet Can ALTUNIÅžIK, whose expertise in engineering and academic background in earthquake and structural health will make significant contributions to the Board’s work, and we wish him success in his endeavors.
