Our students achieved great success in space technologies

Our students, who are KTU YGM Space Club members, ranked second in Türkiye in the 8th TÜRKSAT Model Satellite Competition.

Our team ranked 2nd among 114 teams in the 8th TÜRKSAT Model Satellite Competition held within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2023 and in line with the vision of making Türkiye a key player in the field of space technologies. The team achieved great success under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Haydar KAYA. Team members are AlipaÅŸa ÖKSÜZ, Mustafa DURUKAN, and BüÅŸra UFLAZ from the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Yunus GÜNDÜZ and BüÅŸra KALYON from the Department of Computer Engineering, and Aleyna ÖZTÜRK from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The satellite model project of our university students can perform two-way telemetry, data communication, and live camera broadcasting. The Model Satellite can autonomously perform its tasks with its sensors for pressure, temperature, IMU, and GPS. It also resembles a real satellite with its design adhering to CubeSat standards. In the design of the Model Satellite, 85% of the products used were domestic, including domestic software, hardware design, and ASPILSAN Li-Ion batteries. The production and tests carried out under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Haydar KAYA were performed using the KTU Space Club workshop.

We congratulate our faculty member and students who achieved this success.
