Scientific research on Aronia (Aronia Melanocarpa)
A cooperation protocol was signed for research on Aronia (Aronia melanocarpa) by KTU Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI on behalf of KTU Drug and Pharmaceutical Technology Application and Research Center (KTU ILAFAR), Mayor of Akçaabat Municipality Osman Nuri EKÄ°M, and President of Akçaabat Chamber of Agriculture Mustafa Hikmet EYÜPOÄžLU. Within the scope of the protocol, it is aimed to investigate the usage of Aronia in traditional herbal medicinal products and/or supplementary food and to carry out phytochemical analyzes and inventory studies of Aronia and various products prepared from it. With this purpose, studies related to the pharmacological activity of compounds that may have the potential of drug substance or specific excipient on Aronia, their pharmaceutical formulation, and toxicity will be carried out. These studies will be conducted by volunteer academic staff using the facilities of the KTU ILAFAR.
